#mininomnomtime! - The Foodies Market, The Rocks

#mininomnoms

This is my mini gathering of some of the really awesome food stalls they have at the Foodies Market up at The Rocks on Fridays! (**I've also done a blog post on The Fine Food Store and also Wine Oddessy on their Chicken Tikka Wrap previously in my blog, so you can go find that too!)

Lets Jump right onto it!

- - - - - Phillips Foote - - - - -

Quality: Absolutely AWESOMENESS!

Pricing: <$8.00

Roast Pork with Coleslaw drizzled with homemade Apple sauce and
Gravy topped with Pork crackling.

____Mininomnoms

Phillip's Foote on UrbanspoonThis foodie stall only started opening up just recently. Phillips Foote has been established in The Rocks since 1975! They are very famous for their BBQ where you cook yourself and it's just some place different in the area. Now I have a secret obsession with Pork Belly and Pork Crackling (I'm on a mission to find the best Pork Belly in Sydney) and this place is by far one of the best places! I've been to Mr Crackling on Oxford Street and it's pretty good but this place is a lot more easy access (in some sense). Moving on… The pork is tender and at first I was abit hesitant with the whole apple sauce and gravy thing but it goes together so well and its absolutely devineeee

- - Löwenbräu Keller - - - -

Quality: Soft, Warm and F-r-e-shhhh

Pricing: $4.00

Ofenfrische Brez’n
(Haus Baked Pretzel)

____Mininomnoms

Lowenbrau Keller on UrbanspoonThe Pretzels here are to dieeee for! Its great in the morning (especially on a cold winters' morning) because its fresh from the oven and its super toasty with a little tub of butter and its just so fluffy inside and delicious! Great for a pick-me-up with a coffee or tea and its filling too! Lowenbrau also have really awesome food with a great atmosphere and interior design! They have really good biers and also very friendly staff! Another pointer is that on weekends and friday nights (I think) they have a live band outside playing instruments and dancing. #sahadorbs I love the vibes and its just so fun and inviting!

Last but not least...

- - - The Fine Food Store - - - - -

Quality: Succulent and Drool-Worthy

Pricing: $10.00

Wagyu Beef Burger with Old School Relish

____Mininomnoms

The Fine Food Store on UrbanspoonI'm not being dramatic but I d-i-e-d. This was the best burger EVER. I don't usually like eating burgers cause it gets super messy and everything falls out at the back and juices go everywhere but when you're eating this… WHO CARESSSS! They are really quick with service even though theres 50 million people waiting in line! The only let down I have is the not-so-soft bun... BUT! The burger is good enough overall for me to keep coming back for more next time! Fine Food Store has really good bagguettes and coffee (especially the Iced Coffee! They have a frozen espresso shot in the coffee so that your coffee doesn't get diluted as the ice melts. GENIUS). Their food is usually a LITTLE bit pricey but hey, #healthy, doesn't bother me =) The guys working there are super cool and friendly and its a great place to sit back and absorb all the vitamin D's from the sun!

Thats All for now loveypiees =)

Hope you guys have a great day and I shall be posting soon =D

Don't forget to SMILE and keep your tummys HAPPY!

The Rocks, The Tea Cosy

Photo: The Tea Cosy, The Rocks
Front: Devonshire Tea, Two Homemade Plain Scones with Pear and Vanilla Jam and Thickened Cream.
Quality: 5 nomnoms out of 5!!
Service: 4.5 nomnoms out of 5!
Pricing: $ - $$ (Scones and tea is $)

THE NOMNOMGRAM!

  • The Quality of the food here is always top notch and high on standards. The scones are always fresh as they bake it every few hours. They have a really cute clock infront of the terrace house saying what time the scones were out of the oven so you can count on them to be fresh every time! I've been there for High Tea the first time I went to the tea Cosy and I was not disappointed! They have really good pots of tea and it was only $35pp! I got ribbon sandwiches, two scones with cream and jam (of course), 2 pots of tea in cosies (super cutee) and also two small dessert tarts (See picture below).

  • The Customer Service here is exceptional! They are always really friendly with a warm smile and although the place itself is really small and compact, its very homey so you just snuggle right in there!
  •   The Pricing here is quite affordable (especially being in the Rocks area!) a single scone is $2.50 and they sell pots of tea for $4.50. Devonshire Tea (as shown in the first photo) was $12.50 so that's pretty good considering you get a pot of tea with two scones. If you're going to have a sit in at The Tea Cosy you will probably spend about $10.
  • The Quantity of the food is normal, I guess. You get what you paid for and its very good quality food and especially for the price you pay, its definitely worth it!

** Side Notes

I am not exaggerating but am absolutely
in love with this place! Lalalala~
Gives me warm fuzzies inside! Because I work at the Information Centre at The Rocks, we have brochures for this lovely place and we have people asking about it occasionally and I decided to pay them a visit one day because I was in desperate cravings for HigTea
(strange I know), so I went by my self and it was the best decision I've ever made!

They have a great atmosphere playing slow jazz-y, blues songs and its great to sit and unwind and relax. If you go during the week, it's not as busy and its just the perfect
atmosphere to study or just chat with friends and just hang out!

Their scones are super fluffy and its not like where you get them elsewhere! Its not super buttery and it goes perfectly with your pot of tea! Btw, they have really awesome tea flavours! Green tea with Strawberries is my
favourite and I've also tried Creme Brulee black tea too!

Definately go to The Tea Cosy and try the scones and tea! You won't be disappointed and I HIGHLY recommend it!

Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!
Don't forget to SMILE and hopefully... I'll pick up my game this month =D

Sydney, City - Ramen Ikkyu

 Photo: Ramen Ikkyu
Front: Ikkyu Soy Ramen in Paitan Soup (rich and concentrated soup) with pork and a side order of corn

Quality: 4.5 nomnoms out of 5!
Service: 4 nomnoms out of 5!
Pricing: $$ (sides are $)

THE NOMNOMGRAM!

  • The Quality of the food here is preeeeetty impressive and awesome! It's very clean and the soup base is really good and not overly salty and overpowering like 'normal' Japanese style ramens. They have really fresh ingredients and its also very filling and delicioussss! The Ikkyu Soy is one of their signature dishes, I also tried the Tantan Men (ramen with soy soup base topped with spicy pork) and that was pretty good and not too spicy like it usually is at other places. They also serve side dishes like Gyoza (japanese dumplings) and a few signature Japanese rice dishes too!

Photo: Tantan Men (Ramen Ikkyu)
  • The Customer Service here is preeetty good. Ramen Ikkyu isn't a fancy restaurant (even though they should think of getting an actual shop because its just talent gone to wasteeee!), anyways so it's just a little shop stand inside the Sussex Center Food Court hence its very *bam bam bam* customers ordering in and out. The waitress who served me didn't have very good English but it's really good because you order on the iPad they have on the desk and then they receive it in their system and then you just pay them. It's a really good idea because you know what your ordering and you can alter your meal however you want. Avoids any misunderstanding with the waitress and customers.
  • The Pricing of the ramen is decent and cheap'ish. For ramen, it's pretty good! An average bowl of ramen is around $12 and they have special ramen's like the tantan men which will  be around $15 per bowl. The BEST thing about this place is that they offer FREE Kaedama (noodles) refill! so you can refill your noodles as you wish if you're not full yet!
  • The Quantity of the dishes are decent and as I mentioned earlier, you do get free noodles refill and with the price, it's really good in terms of quality and quantity especially for the price you pay!
**Side Notes
Ramen Ikkyu is not exactly in the best
location but they have really really good
ramen. They're located in the corner of
the Sussex Centre food court which is a
lot better now and less dingey like it was
before. The great thing about this place
is that its pretty quick and don't let the
soup scare you off! It's really nice and
creamy...?

I reckon these guys will go really far in
terms of business wise. They have a really
nice layout and I can see them opening up
an actual store in the Cityyyy

Sahhhh nomnomsss!

Hope youre have an AWESOME Monday! Don't forget to smileeee =)

Breakfast to go in the Sydney CBD!

#BREAKFAST!

Something a bit different... I work in the City and so every morning I don't have time to grab breakfast so I usually like to buy breakfast for those longggg days ahead. Bacon and Egg rolls are my to-go breakfasts on the go (or if I'm sitting in, I like to get Eggs Benedict or Big breakfast =D) Anyways, I've been to a fair share of cafes which are open early in the City and I've compiled a short list of cafe's I've been to and it's just a brief quickie on what I think about each place. Enjoy! =D

Ps: I only have photos of the Bacon and Egg rolls of 2 cafes, I'll try and upload new photos for the other cafes! =)

Liquidz Cafe + Small bar - cnr Bathurst & Kent st

#Ratemebaby!

Bacon: Crispy and Delicious!
Egg: Oozey and Crispy rims!
Bun: Soft and Fresh!

Price: $5.50 (or with coffee $6.50)
++ Overall: 3.5 nomnoms out of 5!

The ratings aren't as good as what it potentially can be because they're not very consistent with their food. I am not exaggerating, I got a bacon and egg roll and about 5 minutes after I ordered another one for a friend (I swear it was for a friend!) and mine came out perfect (as shown above) whilst his one had a flat focaccia bun and the egg was slightly overcooked and that's happened to me before where I get crappy ones and then I have days when its really good! You know me and my yearning for consistencies with food places, it really makes a big difference with the quality and it's embarassing if you go to a place to eat and the food is AWESOME and nekminit when you bring a friend with you another day, the food tastes like crap D: soo embarassing (happened to me sooo many timess!)

CQ Cafe - Alfred St, Circular Quay

#Ratemebaby!

Bacon: Slightly Dry and Fried!
Egg: Slightly oozey - 90% cooked through!
Bun:  Small, Fresh and toasted!

Price: $6.00
++ Overall3 nomnoms out of 5!

As you would know by now, the ratings aren't that good for here because the food isn't made fresh when ordered. The food is usually pre-made and left on display in the hot food place and then when people order it, they put it into the toastie and heat it uppp! Which is totally fine especially if you're on the go. When you do go there, don't expect too much from the people serving you, their attitudes aren't exactly the best (if you see other reviews on them, you'll understand) but its a get-in-get-out type of place so don't dwell on it too much haha. They also have fruit juice here which is ahh-mazing because you cant find any fruit juice places around the Circular Quay area.

TIP: Get Mango, Watermelon and Apple Juice! It's sooo niceee and refreshing!

Farma  - Townhall Square

#Ratemebaby!

Bacon: Chopped up... Normal Pan Fried Bacon!
Egg: Oozey... 75% cooked through..
Bun: Big and Fresh LOL!

Price: $6.50 (for the B&E roll, extra $3 for spinach)
++ Overall: 2.8 nomnoms out of 5!

They have a similar takeaway system where they have the food pre-made and then they toast it back up for you when you order it! The customer service here isn't exactly friendly, maybe its cause its early morning and they aren't morning people... The girl who served me, broke my egg and I saw the egg oozing out as she was making my roll because she was so aggressive LOL Felt like she stabbed my heart with a stake. The roll itself is really BIG and really filling so you'll be expecting a late lunch! I got spinach thinking it was going to be fresh spinach (just to lighten my breakfast abit) and it turned out to be hardcore oily stir-fried spinach which is okay... but it tastes like asian stir fried salty msg filled veges and I don't want that for breakfast =( #sadlife. Yeahh... so I paid $9.50 for the bacon and egg roll (as shown above) and it was really intense...

Bakers Oven Cafe  - George St, The Rocks

#Ratemebaby!

Bacon: 2 layers of bacon with fried egg inbetweeen.... *droool*
Egg: Pan fried the st*t out of it LOL but theres 2 layers of egg!
Bun: Fresh Foccacia bread BEST BREAD EVAAAR! *i love bread =)*

Price: $6.50
++ Overall3.5 nomnoms out of 5!

This little cafe is pretty good overall. I don't like it how they over cook the egg and also how they have 2 layers of bacon and egg ( I know! The more the merrier but not for breakfast!) BUT! I keep coming back for the bread because it's so fresh and delicious and I can't get enough of it! They have GREAT customer service and they always great you with a smile and always really friendly and they have a great memory for their customers (I guess the rocks isn't really that big to begin with haha). They are a bit slow with service which is fine, they do get quite busy in the morning and obviously they do coffee as well so that's something you can look into as well when you go!

Sydney, Darling Harbour - Bona Fides Cafe Restaurant

Photo: Bona Fides Cafe Restaurant
Front: Poached Eggs Benedict with Bacon drizzled with homemade hollandaise sauce
Back: Bacon and Scrambled Egg with Toast

Quality: 2 nomnoms out of 5!
Service: 3.5 nomnoms out of 5!
Pricing: $$ (drinks are $-$$)

THE NOMNOMGRAM!

  • I came here for breakfast and the Quality of the food here really top notch and fresh! The poached eggs are perfectly cooked with the oozing yolk and the focaccia bread is freshly toasted. The biggest let down for me was the sauce on the Eggs Benedict because it had an acidic taste and really just ruined the whole meal for me and acidic food in the morning really isn't really a good idea haha. We also ordered a nutella french pancake (which really was a crepe) and the sauce tasted strange and a bit off so... maybe their sauces aren't their forte.
  • The Customer Service here is really really good! There's always someone around if you need assistance and they're very friendly. Very Helpful staff and they are always on the ball to remove unnecessary plates and cutlery on your table! We walked by looking at the menu and they had a waitress standing there talking to us and somewhat convincing us to eat in (which is perfectly normal! Fish gotta swim People gotta eat right? =))
  • The Pricing here is quiteeeee expensive considering the proportions of the meals. The Eggs Benedict was $17 (honestly ripped a hole in a heart because it wasn't as delicious as what I hoped it would be!) and breakfast in general was an average of $16 or so. I haven't been there for Lunch or Dinner so.... We'll see how that goes =)
  • The Quanity of the food is pretty small... as you can tell from the photos above. But the Quality of the food is pretty good so I guess it balances out some what =P

**Side Notes
Bona Fides have been quite popular lately,
which I think it's becuase they have coupon
deals available online so I've had quite a few
people pop into the information centre
asking where the cafe restaurant is located.
They are at a great location just around the
waterfront, about 5 minutes walk from the
IMAX theatre (which you cannot miss, hahah)
but the only downside is that the building
itself have 3 different names!

Theres Home BarTokio Hotel and Bona Fides
CafeI think Home bar is the function room (also
nightclub upstairs) and the building in general,
Tokio Hotel is the Bar section of the building and
Bona Fides is the Cafe part. It'a all very confusing
but all the same place! The coffee here is pretty
goood! Very creamy and frothy! They also have a
outdoor seating area which is really good for smokers
and they also have a heater as well so you can keep
yourself warm and toastie especially during winter!

Trying to do more posts, since I've been slacking off lately... yeeeaah.... Nevertheless! Plenty of food to eat and not enough time to post!

Meanwhile, have an AWESOME day and keeep smiling =)

Camila. =)

Sydney, Burwood - Pom's Thai Restaurant

Photo: Pom's Thai Restaurant
Front: Roast Duck Red Curry and a Chicken Pad Thai

Quality: 4.5 nomnoms out of 5!
Service: 4 nomnoms out of 5!
Pricing: $-$$

THE NOMNOMGRAM!

  • The Quality of the food here is just soooo delicious although they're not always consistent, the food always tastes really good. I've been here quite a few times and I haven't been disappointed! The ingredients may change from time to time (it's seasonal) but it's always fresh and awesomeeee! They're at a great location not the main eatery street in Burwood (on burwood road) and it's about a 15-20 minutes train ride from the Sydney CBD.
  • The Customer Service here is pretty good. I think the restaurant is family owned so their english isn't the greatest but they're pretty chill and they don't harass you to order or get out or anything! They're always around if you need them so it's perrrrrrfect!
  • The Pricing of the food here is quite pricey considering that the restaurant is located in the Inner West suburbs and the restaurant looks pretty dingy from the outside and the inside haha. But! Other than that, in relation to the quality and quantity of the food it's pretty worth it! If you're going to eat there you're probably looking at paying about $20-$25 for an entree and a main.
  • The Quantity of the food is pretty good as I mentioned earlier, the proportions are always pretty big, well it's filling =)

** Side Notes
I'm usually a "judge book by its cover" type
of person when it comes to restaurants (it's
terrible, I know >__<!) BUT! One of my more
"adventurous" girlies took me to this place
and it's just bomb! The Roast Duck Red Curry
is just sooo good and the Pad Thai is spicy
and soooo addictiveeeee! I love eating here
because I love Roast Duck and I don't have to
wait in line for a ridiculously long time and
it's pretty secluded and quiet so it's great to
sit and talk with your friends!

I've had Roast Duck Curry before but usually
the duck has a fridge taste as you would imagine,
Roast Duck isn't that popular amongst the Western
culture, so it's kept in the fridge for a while
(lets be honest haha). Anyways, the food here
is pretty good, we've had the Curry, the Pad Thai
Laksa and the Fish Cakes but everything is at a
pretty good standard so definitely a to-go restaurant
if you want Thai in the 'burbs!

Have an awesome weekend =) I'll be back to post tomorrow ;)

Don't forget to smileeee!

Sydney, City - Jamie's Italian Restaurant

Photo: Jamie Oliver's Italian Restaurant
Front: Jamie's Italian Signature Porchetta (Slow-cooked free-range Australian pork belly filled with herbs, garlic & spices with fennel crackling & a watercress salad- Jamie's Website). Middle: Our Famous Polenta Chips (Crispy Fried with Rosemary and Parmesan - Jamie's Website), Back: Prawn Linguine (Juicy pan-fried garlicky Spencer Gulf prawns served with tomatoes, chilli, rocket & fennel - Jamie's Website)

Quality: 2.5 nomnoms out of 5!
Service: 3 nomnoms out of 5!
Pricing: $$ - $ (Drinks are $-$$)

THE NOMNOMGRAM!

  • The Quality of the food ... Let's just say it's not my favourite place to eat. I don't know if its because I went there for lunch but I had a good expectation for this place because its really popular and because of the prices as well, I was expecting to be somewhat decent. I have hear feedbacks before I went and there were people who really really loved it and then there were people saying that it wasn't that great... So I don't know if it's the lack of consistency or what... I ordered mainly the popular "signature" dishes because that's always safe! And it was honestly disappointing... It wasn't flat out busy when I went but.. might have to drag myself back there to try the food again just in case the chef was having a crappy day and the food wasn't up to standards that day!
  • The Customer Service here is pretty good... our waitress was giving us attitude from time to time but it's alright.. The people working there are generally really nice, so it was all goood!
  • The Pricing here is quite pricey... You're looking at an average of $26 or so per main dish? For the pasta's, you have the option of getting entrée sized or main sized dishes so the prices will vary. When I went with my bestie, we got 2 mains, 2 sides, 2 soft drinks and 1 order of bread and it costed us about $80? $80 for lunch is quite expensive haha.
  • The Quantity of the servings here are quite decent. Considering the price that you pay for the food, it's pretty goood. You definitely will feel full and stuffed afterwards which is the main point of eating right?!
**Side notes:
As I have mentioned before, the feedback
here is really inconsistent and people either
loved it or hated it so... if you do go, don't
have an expectation for it and see how it
you like it! The interior design is really well
designed and has a rustic type of feel and
they have lots of seating with an upstairs and
downstairs seating arrangements. It also has a
very romantic, dim lights type of setting
which is really nice and calming. They don't
always have seating available so when we got
there we had to wait for about 20 minutes for
a table?

That's all from me for now =)

Hope you have a GREAT day and don't forget to smile! =D

Sydney, Darling Harbour - The Little Snail Restaurant

Photo: Little Snail Restaurant
Escargot de Bourgogne (Dozen snails marinated in herb-infused court bouillon, oven baked in garlic butter - Little Snail website)

Quality: 4 nomnoms out of 5!
Service: 4 nomnoms out of 5!
Pricing: $$

The Nomnomgram!

  • The Quality of the food here is just absolutely divineeee! If you haven't yet already noticed, the Little Snail Restaurant is a French restaurant =) I've never had French cuisines before but this was a pretty good first time experience! Escargots are one of the signature french delicacies for appetizers and it was really yummy! We also ordered their Loin of Lamb dish and it was cooked till perfection. Everything is really fresh including their French baguettes (the Bruschetta is to dieee for!) and their desserts (yumm... profiteroles)!

  • The Service here is really good! You can always find a waitress or waiter whenever you're in need of assistance and they don't hassle you to eat faster or ignore you when you need them the most haha. They are also really good with timing with the food being served as shortly after your meal is done, your next course is up and running and ready to go! The atmosphere here is very nice, not too noisy and so you can have a nice peaceful dinner or lunch.
  • The Pricing here is pretty decent... they have a 3 Course set dinner menu for $60 per person which will include an entrée, main meal and also a dessert. The options are pretty good as they have a range of different dishes from red meats to seafood and etc. They have a selection of really good desserts and you're actually full after the meal haha
  • The Quantity of the meals here are quite decent. Before I went to the restaurant, I thought it would be a fine dining type of experience but surprisingly the proportions are pretty good in relation to quality.

** Side Notes:
The Little Snail is located at a prime location
just off Darling Harbour near Star City Casino.
It's got a very romantic type of setting with
dim lights and it's very spacious and comfortable.
Would definitely recommend to wear something
semi-formal when going here, people get quite
dressy but it's pretty chill.

Meanwhile, have a GREAT day! And Don't forget to smileeeee!

Sydney, Chinatown - Twisted Noodle Bar

Photo: Twisted Noodle Bar
Yunan Noodle Soup (Pork, Soy Sauce Egg, Beef, Mushroom, Bean Sprouts, Chives and Tofu with a side of Chicken Wings and Sausages.)
Side dishes: Soft Pork Bone and Fried Chicken Wings.

Quality: 3.8 nomnomns out of 5
Service: 3 nomnoms out of 5
Prices: $ - $$ (Side dishes and drinks are $)

THE NOMNOMGRAM!

  •  The Quality of the food here is really consistent and it's one of those restaurants where you crave every once in a while and not necessarily want it all the time. The thing about the dishes here is that everything pretty much tastes the same because they have the same sauce and soup based for the noodle soups, only the toppings are different.
  • The Customer Service here is not honestly the best. It's like a get in and get out type of restaurant, not exactly the most romantic sit in and chat type of place. The people working there are pretty much Asians who speak Cantonese and also mandarin. They got my order wrong a few times and their not very sympathetic nor apologetic but what do you expect right? Haha
  • The Prices here are pretty cheap compared to other places on Chinatown. The noodle soups are at an average of $12 including a small side dish of chicken wings and sliced Taiwanese sausages. They also have little side dishes that you add on with your meal and they're like less than $5 so its great when you have 2 or 3 people eating with you cause you can have a bit of everything and have variety!
  • The Quantity of the food that is given is pretty good considering the price that you pay for your meal. You can also add extra noodles to your soup as well for a few extra dollars.
**Side Notes:
The food here is pretty good especially
if your looking for a cheap feed around
Chinatown. It's also really good because
people go in and out and there is always
seats and never ever have i needed to
wait more than 5 minutes for a table which
is just aweeesome especially now that its
freeezing and you're hungry =( They're at a
great location and its super close to George
st and its not super popular but its preetty
good!

When you get there and order their specialty
(noodle soups) you can choose the level of
sourness and chilliness of your soup. The soup
is really addictive because its kinda hot and
spicy and its great on a cold winters day!

As per usual, have an AWESOME day and feel free to visit my other posts (located on the left <---- font=""> ) and have all the Giggles
